After completing the volunteer intake form in Step 1, you will then be provided a confirmation letter from Sekweha stating that you will be volunteering (or working) with the organization. You can then proceed to your local police station to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check. When you visit the police station you will need to provide the following:
- A position description
- The name of the hiring organization (Janvier Sekweha Youth Centre)
- Details about the children or vulnerable persons that exemplify their vulnerability
- A letter from Sekweha stating the position is strictly volunteer based (for volunteer positions only)
After providing the required information, a name-based criminal record check will be conducted, with the possibility of fingerprinting for a certified criminal record check.
A vulnerable sector check includes a police information check combined with a check for a record suspension (pardon) for sexual offences. This type of record check is conducted when the applicant will be working in a position of trust or authority over children or vulnerable persons.
